Introduction to The Sarawak United Association of Private Chinese Secondary School Management Board

Introduction: The Sarawak United Association of Private Chinese Secondary School Management Board was established on August 5, 1988. It is composed of the province-based Independent Chinese Secondary Schools (Referred to as ICSS)Boards of Management registered in Sarawak or any ICSS board of directors registered in Sarawak. The directors of the Chinese Independent School Boards are elected internally and appointed by other relevant organizations. Generally, they are local individuals or representatives of local organizations concerned with Chinese education.

Member Schools: There are 14 Chinese independent schools in Sarawak as below;

(1) Chung Hua Middle School, No. 1 Kuching (2) Chung Hua Middle Schoo, No. 3 Kuching (3) Chung Hua Middle School, No. 4 Kuching (4) Batu Kawa Min Lit Secondary School, Kuching (5) Ming Lik Secondary School, Sarikei (6) Serian Public Secondary School, Kuching   (7) Catholic High School, Sibu (8) Wong Nai Siong Secondary School, Sibu (9) Guong Ming Middle School, Sibu (10) Citizen Middle School, Sibu (11) Kiang Hin Middle School, Sibu (12) Kai Dee Middle School, Bintulu (13) Pei Min Middle School, Miri (14) Riam Road Secondary School, Miri

Main Objectives:

(1) To establish connections and unity among the ICSS Boards and individual School Boards in Sarawak to promote the development of each Chinese Independent School.

(2) To research and promote the development and reform of ICSS in Sarawak.

(3) To seek to gather the strength of the Chinese community in Sarawak to jointly improve and revitalize Chinese education.

(4) To represent the ICSS Boards in Sarawak in discussions with the government or other legal institutions regarding all matters related to ICSS.

(5) To collaborate with other organizations registered in the country with similar objectives and goals to improve Chinese education in the country and in Sarawak.
